The fact is that Tyler Dorsey will not compete in the upcoming FIBA World Cup. However, according to his father, Jerrid Dorsey, this is first and foremost a personal decision of the player, who remains available for future competitions with the Greek national team.

“I’ll tell you this, coach Itoudis wanted him to play,” Jerrid Dorsey said to Eurohoops and explained that personal reasons made the player’s absence mandatory this summer.

As he explained: “Due to family obligations that [playing in the national team] was not possible this summer. Tyler is the 1st option always on the national team. Hopefully, he will help them medal in the future”.

What is certain is that Dorsey remains available after taking a break this summer and the naturalized spot of the Greek national team roster will continue to be the subject of discussion in terms of selection in future competitions.

After all, the Fenerbahce player was the second-leading scorer of the Greek national team at EuroBasket 2022 only behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.
