Simone Fontecchio spoke to Eurohoops after the hot start of the Italian national team in their prep games.
The Azzurri began preparation for the World Cup with four wins out of as many matches, lifting the trophies of the Trentino Cup and the Acropolis Tournament.
In the last match against Greece, the Jazz winger scored 17 points
“We are happy with how we played, this is the preparation period so it does not count, but we played defense and are happy”, Fontecchio said.

So what are the goals for Italy in the World Cup?
“I don’t want to talk about goals. We want to do our best and play well. Also, we need a bit of luck”, added Fontecchio, who even though stars like Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be out for the World Cup, doesn’t want to call Italy a dark horse.
“As I said you need to be lucky, to arrive in the perfect condition and play one game at a time. We have a good group”.
