With five players scoring in double figures, Australia defeated France 78 – 74 in their second-to-last preparation game for the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Evan Fournier’s 29 points (on 11-14 shots) weren’t enough for Les Bleus that completed their training camp matches.

Josh Giddey dropped 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists for Australia while Nick Kay scored 12 and collected five boards as well. Duop Reath had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists, Dante Exum posted 11 points and three steals while Patty Mills finished with 11 points in a very balanced team effort by the Boomers.

Apart from Fournier, Isaia Cordinier scored 12 and Guerschon Yabusele had 10 points plus seven rebounds for France. Their team had a strong start to lead 19 – 27 after the first period and was up 31 – 39 at halftime but Australia tipped the sales after the break to eventually get the win.
