Spain has come to the 2023 FIBA World Cup to defend their crown and in their first game of the tournament, they demonstrated their might.

Arguably Cote d’Ivoire is not a real test, still, the final 94-64 result was more than impressive.

The Eurobasket 2022 MVP Willy Hernangomez with 22 points led the charge, scoring 20 of them in the first half.

His brother Juancho Hernangomez added 11 points, Usman Garuba got 12 and they led a solid team effort, as it usually happens with the Spaniards.

To be exact, after a relatively slow start with them leading 24-17, they built a 53-34 halftime lead and the game was over. For the record, they led by 30 (71-41) for the first time in the 27th minute and nothing changed after that.

Bazoumana Cone with 11 points was the top scorer of the losing side, which couldn’t be competitive in this game.
