MANILA, Philippines – Tremont Waters had the game of his life, scoring 37 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists while shooting 7/13 from beyond the arc, giving his team the unexpected 102-97 victory over Dominican Republic.

Karl-Anthony Towns delivered an outstanding performance of 39 points and 9 rebounds, while Andres Feliz continued his incredible shooting run at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, ending with 22 points and eight assists. But it wasn’t enough for victory.

Following an impressive showing by Puerto Rico in the first quarter, Karl-Anthony Towns put the Dominican Republic back into the game with a great dunk at the very end of the first half, with Andres Feliz tying it at 45-45 following a clutch three-pointer.

In the second half, the Dominican Republic kept pushing dragged by its leader, with Puerto Rico trailing and not being able to get back into the game. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar wrote the exclamation point with 4:10 minutes left in the game, dunking powerously. However, John Holland was clutch with 00:31 seconds left from three, bringing Puerto Rico back ahead at 98-95, ad Dominacan Republic couldn’t recover.

Situation in Group I got seriously complicated, as all four teams (Serbia, Italy, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic) have the same 3-1 score before decisive games.
