Borisa Simanic is facing a huge health emergency in the FIBA World Cup

In a shocking turn of events, Serbian player Borisa Simanic, who is currently hospitalized lost a kidney after getting elbowed in the game against South Sudan.

Simanic is hospitalized and due to complications in his injury, the removal of the kidney was decided.

Per the Serbian basketball federation: “Serbian international Boriša Simanić, who is in the “Makati Medical Center” hospital in Manila due to an injury sustained in the match of the 3rd round of the group stage of the World Cup, underwent another operation yesterday.

After Simanić was operated on for the first time in the night between August 30th and 31st, the doctors monitored the postoperative recovery and decided that due to complications, a new operation was necessary.

About the new operation and the health condition of Borisa Simanić, the doctor of the Serbian national team, Dr. Dragan Radovanović says: “Due to the appearance of complications on the injured kidney that occurred in the postoperative course, Boriša Simanić was operated on again on September 3. Due to changes in kidney tissue vitality, the entire kidney had to be surgically removed. We expect and wish that after this operation, the post-operative course will go smoothly”.
