MANILA, Philippines – Providing 12 points off the bench, Marko Guduric contributed to Serbia’s win against Canada to advance to the final of the 2023 FIBA World Cup. However, when talking to the media after the 95-86 victory, he preferred not to keep it about him.

Stopping by in the mixed zone, the Fenerbahce shooting guard dedicated the successful outcome to Borisa Simanic. “He knows everything. We already talked to him, I wanna dedicate this win to him. What happened is bigger than basketball. I hope this medal will make him feel a little better. We are praying for him, he’s feeling better and hopefully, he can join us for the final”, Marko Guduric commented on his injury teammate, who lost his kidney after the game against South Sudan.

Then, being present in the post-game press conference, he delivered other emotional words on the matter. “I have to mention our teammate, who’s still in hospital fighting. Like I said after the Quarter-Finals, I want to dedicate this win to him. Hopefully, we’re gonna see him soon with us, with the team. Hopefully, he feels a little bit better when he knows he has a medal. It’s not important, but I hope we made him happy tonight”, the 28-year-old added.
