Sixteen teams learn their opponents as tournament expands to new format

The draw for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 has been completed, setting the groups for next year’s tournament in Berlin.

The expanded 16-team field has been split into four groups of four. Group D headlines the draw, with defending powerhouse USA set to face Czechia, Italy, and China.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Belgium will compete in Group C alongside Australia, Puerto Rico, and Türkiye.

Host nation Germany will take on Japan, Spain, and Mali in Group A, while Group B features France, Hungary, Korea, and Nigeria.

The tournament, scheduled for September 4–13, will mark the first edition with 16 teams.

Group A: Japan, Spain, Germany, Mali
Group B: Hungary, Korea, Nigeria, France
Group C: Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico, Türkiye
Group D: USA, Czechia, Italy, China
