Canada Basketball unveiled its Summer 2026 Athlete Pool, featuring some of the top Canadian talent competing across the NBA, NCAA, EuroLeague, and other professional leagues around the world ahead of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander headlines the 23-player pool, which also includes Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Luguentz Dort, Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Toronto Raptors wing RJ Barrett, Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks, and brothers Andrew and Ryan Nembhard of the Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks.

The roster also features notable EuroLeague talent, including Dubai center Mfiondu Kabengele and Fenerbahce big man Khem Birch, alongside Bennedict Mathurin, Kelly Olynyk, Leonard Miller, Charles Bediako, Kyshawn George, and Kyle Wiltjer.

Canada will continue under head coach Gord Herbert, alongside assistants Jama Mahlalehla, Nathaniel Mitchell, and Hanno Mottola.

One of the biggest absences from the athlete pool is Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, who will not be part of the national team program during this Olympic cycle despite previously expressing his desire to represent Canada, according to Canada Basketball general manager Rowan Barrett, as reported by Michael Grange. Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins and Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey were also omitted from the list.

Canada’s upcoming schedule begins with FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Hamilton, where the national team will host Puerto Rico on July 3 and Jamaica on July 6 at TD Coliseum.

The team will then play another home game on August 31 in Québec City at Centre Vidéotron against an opponent yet to be determined.
