Mike James once again led Team USA in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the Americans’ narrow 94-93 victory over Mexico.
The veteran guard shot 5-for-10 from the field, knocked down two three-pointers and added three steals in an all-around performance that earned him a team-high 24 efficiency rating. Torrey Craig paced Team USA in scoring with 23 points, while Jacob Gilyard chipped in with 11 points and four assists.
Elsewhere in the Americas Qualifiers, Brazil completed a perfect first-round campaign by defeating Colombia 104-80 on the road. Former Crvena zvezda and Virtus Bologna guard Yago dos Santos starred with 26 points and seven assists, while Bruno Caboclo added 19 points and seven rebounds.
The Dominican Republic secured a 99-76 win over Nicaragua behind 17 points and nine assists from Real Madrid guard Andrés Feliz.
Canada also finished the opening phase unbeaten, cruising past Jamaica 116-78. Dillon Brooks led the way with 20 points, Andrew Nembhard scored 17, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 16 points and five assists.
