Isaiah Hartenstein will not play for Germany this summer after suffering an ankle injury, the German Basketball Federation announced.

Following discussions with his NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, all parties agreed that the 2.13-metre centre should not risk aggravating the injury.

Hartenstein, who returned to Germany’s senior national team for the first time since February 2018, will nevertheless remain with the squad in Hamburg. The 2025 NBA champion will use the opportunity to spend time with his teammates and members of the national team staff.

He will also be with the team at the Turkish Airlines Supercup in Hamburg on August 21 and 22, although he will not take part in the games.
