BELGRADE – Nikola Jokic led Serbia to a 90-87 win over Victor Wembanyama and France in a packed Belgrade Arena as both teams continued their preparations for the upcoming FIBA window.
Jokic controlled the game with 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals for a PIR of 33. Wembanyama, meanwhile, was limited to 10 points and five rebounds while committing six turnovers.
Serbia entered the fourth quarter with a 72-62 lead and moved 12 points ahead with just over three minutes remaining. France responded with a late run and cut the deficit to three, but Wembanyama missed a potential game-tying shot before Serbia sealed the victory from the free-throw line.
The two teams will meet again in Orleans on August 23.
