Both parties were willing to work together and that was expressed in today’s (20/5) meeting, between Fotis Katsikaris and the president of Greek federation Giorgos Vasilakopoulos. The agreement was reached and the 47year old coach will guide national team of Greece in the upcoming World Cup of Spain. The deal is a fact and will become official, when the federation manage to resolve the matter of Andrea Trinchieri who still has one more year of contract.
During next week, the federation and Katsikaris will finalize the final details of the contract. At the same time the Greek coach, will be one of the top “players” in European basketball market. There is even a chance of a “battle” between him and his good friend Dimitris Itoudis for the bench of CSKA, if Maccabi Tel Aviv finds the way to keep David Blatt and persuade him to stay home.
