Zare Markovski is the new coach for the Romanian national team, as the country’s basketball federation announced earlier today.

Currently, Markovski is the coach of Trabzonspor, in the Turkish league. The 56-year old coach has had a career of nearly 30 years, during which he has worked with clubs such as Darussafaka SK, Lugano Tigers, Avellino, Virtus Bologna, Armani Milano, Limoges, Reyer Venezia.

Romania performed poorly in the 2017 EuroBasket and want to have a fresh start for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers which begin in a month. Under coach Markovski, Romania will go up against Italy, Croatia, and the Netherlands for Group D.
