The President of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Jorge Garbajosa talks about how the World Cup “windows” could jeopardize Spanish sports, as reported on As.com.
Garbajosa highlights that the ongoing situation about the “windows” brings Spanish sports in a case of emergency:
“The problem of the “windows” is a national problem right now, it’s a national emergency, we can not afford the Spanish team not to take part in any international competitions until 2021. If we stay out (of the World Cup) despite having our best players, it will be the responsibility of the president of the federation and the coach. But we need to have the weapons to compete at the highest level”, he adds.
Just ten days before the Euroleague and the FIBA windows coincide in the schedule, the president of the FEB concludes by saying that they are still “looking for solutions and initiatives to avoid reaching something that could be catastrophic for Spanish sport”.
