Giannis Bourousis was the sole captain of the Greek national team captain in the EuroBasket but he will now share the duty in first two games of the World Cup Qualifiers with former Olympiacos teammate Panagiotis Vassilopoulos.

As the Greek Federation announced, Bourousis and Vasilopoulos will be co-captains in the matches against Great Britain (Friday 24/11) in Leicester, and Israel (Monday 27/11) in Heraklion, Crete.

Vasilopoulos was a member of the gold medal squad of EuroBasket 2005 and the team that won silver in the 2006 World Cup by beating Team USA in the semifinal. The 33-year-old forward returns to international games for the first time after the 2008 Olympics after recovering from a streak of injuries that didn’t allow him to play with his national team.
