Juancho Hernangomez of the Denver Nuggets in a recent interview with ‘FIBA Basketball‘ stated that there will never be another Pau Gasol or Juan Carlos Navarro.
“I don’t think there will ever be another Pau (Gasol) or a Juan Carlos (Navarro). People with that kind of talent, it’s very difficult. What we will do is fight with humility, work every day and try to create a group that is family number two.”
All the medals, trophies and broken records will remain in the history books and according to Hernangomez it is impossible to achieve what these players have achieved:
“For me, to be a part of it is not only an amazing achievement as it’s the highest a player can point to but to have been able to do so in a team where you had the Gasols (Pau and Marc), Juan Carlos Navarro, Ricky (Rubio). It’s impossible to equal what they have achieved because they are an amazing generation,” he said. “We (young players) have this healthy jealousy for what they have achieved.”
The 22-year old finally said that the national team comes first: “For me, the national team comes first, to defend your country. For me and my family, it’s a matter of pride to represent the national team. I’ll be ready in case Sergio calls me up. I’m always going to say yes to the national team. I will always say yes to the national team. Whenever I can go, I will go.”
