Nicolo Melli posted a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, leading Italy to a 71 – 62 win over Germany in a game for the “VTG Supercup” preparation tournament.
For a second consecutive game, Dennis Schroder produced big (21 points, seven rebounds, four assists) for Germany but his performance wasn’t combined with a win.
Germany was up 16 – 26 after 10 minutes but the “Azzurri” shut them down 20 – 8 in the second period to bring a balance to the game.
Italy proceeded to establish a double-digit lead thanks to a 15-0 run for the 65 – 51 of the fourth period and never looked back afterward.
Pietro Aradori added 11 points and Gigi Datome 10 for the Italian national team. Maxi Kleber had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Maik Zirbes scored 10 for Germany.
