Not only the Czech Republic is entering the second round of the European FIBA World Cup qualifiers with a 5-1 record and the second place in Group K, but they also have Jan Vesely and Tomas Satoransky back in their roster.

The Czech Republic is one of the few European teams that are in full strength for the September qualifiers but on the other hand, Russia, which is third in the group standings with a 3-3 record, will have Alexey Shved available for the first time during the qualifiers.

“Shved is the best player in Europe. The outlook is really great [with him back], but it requires work. The difficulty is that he has not played with the team for a year,” Russian national team coach Sergey Bazarevich said while stressing the importance of the game on the road in the Czech Republic.

“We must be prepared for the game tactically. We need to give the players an opportunity to understand whom we will play against.”
