Italy made a big step towards the qualification to the FIBA World Cup by beating Hungary.

It was a close game, but Italy won 69-63 in Hungary and got a solid 6-2 record, while also making a favor to the Netherlands, Poland, and Croatia.

The hosts dropped to a 4-4 record and the third ticket to China from Group J is still wide open. Gigi Datome with 18 points and big plays down the stretch closed the game the right way for the “Azzuri” who also got 11 points by Paul Biligha in 15 minutes of action and also 11 points for Nicolo Melli.

Without injured Adam Hanga on the court, David Vojvoda scored 25 for Hungary.
