Gregg Popovich will make his debut as the head coach of Team USA in the upcoming FIBA World Cup. However, his national team qualified for the tournament under coach Jeff Van Gundy and with a roster that didn’t include any of the stars who will be present in China.

Popovich was asked from Eurohoops about the qualifying system and he gave credit to Van Gundy who had “a different team every team” and also to the USA national team players “who sacrificed their time for a couple of coffees and donuts, but they wanted to do it for their country”.
