Italy is a part of Group D of the 2019 FIBA World Cup alongside Angola, Philippines and Serbia. Daniel Hackett in the midst of his solid season with CSKA Moscow discussed the tournament in China with La Gazzetta dello Sport, FIBA relays.
After the EuroLeague title and his effort in the VTB United League Playoffs, the 29-year-old point guard will set his sights on the World Cup. “My next goal is to have a great summer with the national team” he mentioned.
Hackett also said: “We have the talent, the maturity and the experience to play a good tournament. We only have to work with humility and without making public promises” and added: “At the World Cup, there are not only medals at stake, but also a pass to the Olympic Games Qualifying Rounds.”
He also answered a question on the Italian National Team’s boss, Romeo Sacchetti. “He is a good coach and he lets us have fun on the court” he pointed out.
