Fenerbahce Beko forward and Italian national team captain Gigi Datome announced that he will have to undergo a cleaning surgery to be better prepared for next season. The 31-year-old player said that he will then focus on getting ready for the upcoming World Cup held in China (31/8 – 15/9).
After recovering from a calf injury that kept him out of the EuroLeague Final Four and the Turkish BSL League quarterfinals and semifinals, Datome returned to action in Game 3 of the Finals vs. Anadolu Efes. Fenerbahce didn’t manage to defend its title, losing 4-3.
Datome averaged 9.0 points and 3.6 rebounds in the 2018-2019 EuroLeague.
Another year in the books. Well, for the first time after 4 years in Turkey we finish with a disappointing feeling….
