Two notable absences in Serbia’s preliminary roster.

Serbian national team head coach Sasha Djordjevic announced a list of 18 players that will compile the preliminary squad for the 2019 World Cup (31/8 – 15/9).

The roster features NBA All-Star center Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic and forward Nemanja Bjelica, Philadelphia 76ers center Boban Marjanovic, plus captain Milos Teodosic, among others.

The two most notable absences from the list are Fenerbahce Beko forward Nikola Kalinic and Olimpia Milano guard Nemanja Nedovic. Both players struggled with injuries in the 2018-2019 season.

Serbia is competing in Group D. The “Orlovi”, that won silver medal in the previous World Cup edition in 2014, will face Italy, Philipines and Angola in the first phase.
