Italy’s World Cup preliminary roster cut to 19 players

Five players are out of Italy’s preliminary squad.

The Italian Basketball Federation announced that the preliminary roster of the national team for the 2019 World Cup (China, 31/8 – 15/9) has been reduced from 24 to 19 players.

Dinamo Sassari forward Achille Pollonara, Trento forward Davide Pascolo, Reyer Venezia guard Stefano Tonut, Trento guard Diego Flaccadori and Texas Tech Raiders guard Davide Moretti are the five players cut by head coach Meo Sacchetti.

The new list of players is as follows:

Italy will face Serbia, Philippines and Angola in Group D of the first round of the tournament. The two top teams of each Group advance to the next stage.
