Danilo Gallinari will sit out for a few days after going through appendectomy on Saturday, the Italian Basketball Federation, FIP, informed via press release. The successful operation took place at Verona amid the Italian National Team’s preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
The 30-year-old forward did not play in the Trentino Cup and will miss the upcoming Verona Tournament as well. However, Gallinari is expected to resume practices with his teammates in Rome between August 12th and August 14th.
The Oklahoma City Thunder player is expected to be fully ready prior to the World Cup. Italy will square off against the Philippines on August 31st, Angola on September 2nd and Serbia on September 4th at Foshan in first round action.
