Nikola Vucevic talked to FIBA.basketball about the upcoming FIBA World Cup that tips off late August in China.

The experienced big man talked about Montenegro’s ambitious roster. “The goal is to go to the next round and try to have a long run in China. We have a great and talented group of players, with only two guys over 30 years of age and we all want to show the world that Montenegro’s basketball is very competitive.”

Montenegro is placed in a challenging group, and Vucevic names Greece as the toughest opponent.

“When you look at their roster, with guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo, (Nick) Calathes, and many more other players, they are one of the best teams in the competition. They have a lot of talent and a lot of experience. Brazil has a lot of players that gained experience at FIBA level in the last couple of years, and they are very competitive too. New Zealand has a good team too; they always play and fight hard to have the best result in every competition they compete at. It’s a very tough group, and we are going to do everything to go to the next round. Greece is the favorite for the first spot of the group, and the battle for the second one is going to be very intense.,” Vucevic added.
