Thomas Heurtel will not be able to play for France at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, the French Basketball Federation announced.
Heurtel experienced knee pain during the preparations for the World Cup and traveled to Spain on Wednesday (7/8) where he had a medical check-up with Barcelona. It revealed a problem with the patellar tendon and Heurtel will need several weeks of rest.
It should be noted that Mathias Lessort, Nando De Colo and Axel Toupane have also been recovering from injuries which freed a spot on the roster for Theo Maledon who will play in the prep game against Tunisia.
Here is France’s roster at the moment:
Andrew Albicy, Nicolas Batum, Nando De Colo, Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Louis Labeyrie, Paul Lacombe, Mathias Lessort, Timothy Luwanu-Cabarrot, Amath M’Baye, Adrien Moerman, Frank Ntilikina, Vincent Poirier, Axel Toupane.
Two more players should be cut after this turn of events.
