Brazil coach Petrovic trims World Cup preliminary roster to 13 players

The final lap of preparation games will determine the 12-man squad of the World Cup.

Brazil head coach Aco Petrovic cut the preliminary roster of the team for the 2019 World Cup to 13 players after cutting Jhonatan luz and Lucas Dias from the squad.

“We will give the 13 players a chance in the upcoming friendly matches before finally choosing the 12 who will go to the World Cup,” Petrovic said per the Brazilian Federation.

The remaining 13 players in the preliminary squad are the following: Marcelinho Huertas (Iberostar Tenerife) Rafa Luz (MorBanc Andorra), Yago Mateus (Paulistano), Didi Louzada (New Orleans Pelicans), Alex Garcia, Vitor Benite ( San Pablo Burgos), Leandro Barbosa (Minas Tenis), Marquinhos (Flamengo), Bruno Caboclo (Memphis Grizzlies), Anderson Varejao (Flamengo), Cristiano Felicio (Chicago Bulls), Augusto Lima (San Pablo Burgos) and Rafael Hettsheimeir (Franca).

Brazil will compete in Group F in the first stage of the World Cup and will face Greece, Montenegro and New Zealand. The top two teams will advance to the next phase.
