Bad luck for Alexey Shved who will miss China’s World Cup due to a foot injury

Alexey Shved is ruled out of FIBA World Cup 2019 due to a foot injury, as announced by his club Khimki Moscow Region.

Shved suffered a partial rupture of the plantar fascia and will have to remain out of action for at least four weeks, meaning that he can’t help the Russian NT in China.

“I could not even think that I would miss the World Cup. I’m so sad. In the summer I worked on an individual program. The ankle bothered me with high physical exertion, but it became easier, and I expected that I would have time to recover before joining the national team. Unfortunately, I did not pass the physical examination; the doctors did not allow me to train. I immediately called head coach Sergei Bazarevich. I understand that the team counted on me”, commented Shved on his injury.
