China takes down Puerto Rico for third win in friendly tournament

China, the hosts of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, completed the cycle in friendly tournament.

Following the wins over Croatia and Angola, China concluded the three-day tournament played at Kunshan with a 78-72 victory over Puerto Rico. The losing side of Monday’s contest finished with one win, so did the other two participants of the tournament.

The last game was taken over by in-form Yi Jianlian who poured a game-high 22 points. Wang Zhelin scored 17 points and Zhou Qi added 12. For Puerto Rico, David Huertas notched a team-high 20 points.

The hosts of the tournament and of the 2019 FIBA World Cup will kick off official action facing Ivory Coast on August 31st. They will follow up with matches versus Poland on September 2nd and Venezuela on September 4th. All Group A games will be played at Beijing.

Puerto Rico was drawn in Group C alongside Iran, Spain and Tunisia. Top two spots of each group earn progress to the second round, the other two national teams will be held to classification games.
