New Zealand managed to split the two-game road series versus Japan.

After losing the first match of the two-game series a couple of days ago, New Zealand defeated Japan, 104-87, at Kawasaki, Kanagawa, on Wednesday.

Five players went over ten points with Ethan Rusbatch notching 16 points, Isaac Fotu 15 and Corey Webster 14. Robert Loe followed with 13 and Thomas Abercrombie added 12. Rui Hachimura posted a game-high 19 points, also grabbed 9 rebounds for the losing side.

The Asian side will compete in Group E of the World Cup against Turkey, USA and the Czech Republic, while the Tall Blacks will battle Brazil, Montenegro and Greece in Group F. The top two national teams of each group will advance to the next stage, the bottom two will be held to classification games.
