Australia beats Canada to split two-game series

The second time around was a lot better for Australia.

Canada escaped with the victory on Friday, but Australia responded on Saturday completing the two-game home series with a 81-73 win. Both exhibition matches laid the groundwork for the two national teams in their preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

The Boomers were led by Jock Landale, who finished the game at Perth’s RAC Arena with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Jonah Bolden followed with 12 points. Andrew Bogut and Patty Mills were rested. For the losing side, Khem Birch scored 18 points and Oshae Brissett notched 14.

The Australians and the Canadians will meet again on September 1st at Dongguan, China, for Game 1 action of Group H. They will also battle Senegal and Lithuania in the first round of the World Cup.
