Although the Turkish squad kicked off FIBA World Cup with a win over Japan and was so close to upsetting Team USA, they lost to the Czech Republic and in the end, failed to advance further. Cedi Osman gave his apologies to their fans:

“We wish we could win today and qualify as much as we could in the tournament. We wish we could enjoy the celebrations that we deserved, that you deserved, but we couldn’t…

I am deeply grateful for our fans coming here and cheering for us, for the Turkish nation who were of one heart with us in front of their TVs. Personally, I am so sorry that I could not make you enjoy this happiness. However, we are not going to give up; we still have games to play.

We are going to stand up from where we left to gain all the possible success. Thank you so much for all your supportive messages to me and my teammates. I love this team, my country and you so much…”, he wrote on Twitter.
