Serbia coach Sasha Djordjevic decided to cancel his team’s first practices that were scheduled in the city of Wuhan, where the “Orlovi” play the second round of the World Cup, because it would be “crazy” to make his players train.

“Only a crazy coach would expose his players to practice after such a trip,” Djordjevic said per Mozzart Sport.

Following Serbia’s rout over Puerto Rico, Djordjevic detailed the schedule of the trip and the reasons that led him to take the decision mentioned above.

“When you finish your game at 11 o’clock at night. Finish your dinner at midnight. Go to bed at 1. Wake up at 6:30. Have a two-hour bus ride to the airport. Have a two-hour flight. Have a one-hour bus ride. Actually one more hour to wait for baggage to arrive. Arrive at the hotel at 1:30. Finish lunch at 15:00. Then the organization gives you practice time at 16:00. Only a crazy coach would put his players to the floor.”

Djordjevic had previously criticized the competition system of the tournament after his team’s win over Philipinnes.
