Marc Gasol shot 1/6 in 27 minutes against Italy but scored the crucial two points in the crunch time and helped in many other ways in Spain’s win. Coach Sergio Scariolo thought so as well:

“This has probably been the lowest-scoring game for Marc in many years. But he did a good job. He did a good job defensively, he was always communicating with the rest of the team, he showed how you gotta play when it’s not your night. When it’s not your shooting night. Committed, setting the screens, passing the ball, talking on defense, helping people. Of course, I don’t want to lie to anybody. It’s stupid to say that Marc played his best game tonight but even in a bad scoring night he showed his greatness in being a team player, in being a leader, in trying to help the team win. He recognized it wasn’t a night to go and call for many plays or possessions for him but was playing really good for the rest of his teammates”, Scariolo noted after the game.
