Tunisia sealed the top spot in Group N of the FIBA World Cup Classification Round with an 86-84 victory against Angola in Beijing.

It was a tough battle between the two teams in the second half, even though Tunisia stormed the first half 52-37. Angola managed to get ahead by one point in the middle of the final quarter (74-73), though their opponents quickly reacted and sealed an important result.

“I’m proud of the way our guys fought back. Obviously all of us in the locker room we were disappointed with the way we played in the first half. We thought it would be easy to lay it down but we kept fighting until the end”, commented Angola coach Will Voigt.

Michael Roll helped Mario Palma’s team with a 21-point performance, followed by Makram Ben Romdhane’s 20 points and eight rebounds.

Angola had Yanick Moreira scoring 21 points and Gerson Domingos adding 19 points.

As the leader of Group N with a 3-1 record, Tunisia will compete in the pre-olympic tournament ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At the same time, Angola goes out of the tournament with a 1-4 record, ranked third in the group.
