SHANGHAI – Poland did not make it to the 2019 FIBA World Cup semifinals, but will continue its journey at China in classification games for a position between 5th and 8th. Head coach Mike Taylor and captain Adam Waczynski reacted to the quarterfinals loss to Spain on Tuesday.

“We have been on a fantastic run and tonight we played for that dream” Poland’s head coach noted in the post-game press conference. “It was tough. We tip our cap to Spain. We tried to pull the big upset.”

“Spain has high-level players. Their experience was also a factor. The players created some advantages and it was difficult for us to consistently defend them” the 47-year-old coach added.

“We started together as a core in 2014. We have great relationships within the national team.” Taylor said on his side. “We have true professionals. The players have made a great commitment to the national team. That made the difference to get on our run.”

“We fought until the end” mentioned Waczynski following his 15 points versus Spain.“We never gave up. We tried to do our best by limiting them. We tried to switch many things, did not always work. I am very proud of my team.”
