BEIJING – Double-overtime victory for Spain against Australia, and the 2019 FIBA World Cup final is next for La Rojas. Marc Gasol and Sergio Scariolo secured their first NBA ring just a few months ago, but are now set for further glory on Sunday at China.

“You focus on your opponent, the next game, recovering, doing what is necessary to win games, you don’t look at the big picture” said 34-year-old Gasol after leading his team to the “W” with 33 points, “Committing to the national team this year was not easy, but was completely worth it.”

“It’s our turn to pass the legacy to the next generation” he went on touching on the upcoming challenge, “We will see on Sunday. We will focus on the final. It will be a very tough match. Both teams have size, heart, experience, a lot of talent. When the game is over we will move forward either way.”

“We know that Australia is competitive, strong, talented, well-coached team” mentioned 58-year-old Scariolo in the post-game press conference, “Our players got to a very critical moment down the stretch and managed to make good decisions.”

“Winning feeds the ability to keep winning” added the Raptors assistant, “The more quarterfinals or semifinals you win, the more you know how to manage it, know when its the right time to go strong. This is how we foresee the future.”
