After the win of Sevilla against Barcelona, Joan Plaza was trying to joke by calling the star of the Catalans a “bastard”. He meant no harm, but maybe there is a little bad blood between the two of them from the days of Plaza in Real

As you may have heard, Banca Civica Sevilla have won in the home court of Regal Barcelona 66-63. The score looks ugly, but the point is that this was the first defeat of Barcelona at home after 24 straight wins in the ACB league.

So, how can you celebrate something like that? The victorious coach Joan Plaza did it with a – not exactly tactful – joke, when he was asked about the defense of his players against Juan Carlos Navarro who scored just 3 points in the game: “Navarro have defeated me many times, the bastard (in Spanish: cabron). So I want my team to defend him well and let his teammates try to win the game”. Not exactly an elegant pun for the leader of Barca, that had a dreadful night with 1/6 two pointers and 0/4 threes.

But Plaza may have a point. After all Sevilla is responsible for two of the four losses of Barcelona in the league (19-4), something that Plaza never had accomplished when he was the boss of the great rival of the Catalans, Real Madrid. By the way, there is an uncanny resemblance of Plaza to Steve Carell, am I right?
