Theo Papaloukas is sparingly used by Maccabi Tel Aviv‘s coach David Blatt, but the Greek guard will stay in Tel Aviv until the end of the season. According to sources close to the team, Maccabi‘s brass believe that it would be a stain on their prestige to cut loose a player with Papaloukas’ career. Therefore the rumors of him leaving the team, will remain just rumors.
What remains to be seen is if coach Blatt will change his mind and use him differently in the remaining games of Maccabi. In the Euroleague play offs series against Panathinaikos Papaloukas had 5.11 minutes of playing time on average and was never on the court when the game was on the line.
