Controlling things up straight from the very beginning, Panathinaikos bounced back after the crazy loss in overtime on the first round of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season against Olympiacos. The Greens had a convincing 82-71 victory against Maroussi.

Marius Grigonis started the game strong with three shots from beyond the arc in the early minutes of the encounter, ending with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Ergin Ataman’s team distributed only 13 assists, but they were enough to get the win despite Shakur Juiston’s double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds on the opposing end.

Despite the victory, Ergin Ataman wasn’t happy after his team’s performance. “We played terribly, some of our players’ performances were terrible. This is not the performance we’re waiting or the team is waiting for these players. This basketball is horrible”, he said following the win.

Panathinaikos ruled out Juancho Hernangomez for turnover, while his frontline teammate Kostas Antetokounmpo was ejected with 5:25 minutes until the end of the game after an altercation with Maroussi’s players.

Earlier in Round 1 of the Greek Basket League, Olympiacos was led by Isaiah Canaan in the game against Aris following the tribute to Giannis Ioannidis, former legendary coach of both sides who passed away at 78.
