In the weekly draw for the referees of the Greek league games an interesting dialogue has occured. After CSKA‘s coach Dimitris Itoudis who spoke about how the game is called in Euroleague, Manos Papadopoulos who was representing Panathinaikos had a similar take about Olympiacos.
Speaking on the matter, Papadopoulos said: “Some referees are not trained right, or they don’t know the rules. We have a team which is beating their opponents and no fouls are called. There’s a new Limoges! We have a player who is grabbing all the time the opponent ball handler and no foul is called. I am talking about Hackett. We can’t have players who are wrestling hailed as top defenders”.
However, the head of the refereeing committee answered to Papadopoulos: “Still, you had hired mister Maljkovic who had build that Limoges as the head coach of Panathinaikos“.
