The aftermath of Game 2 of the Stoiximan GBL Finals 2026 at Telekom Center Athens, where Panathinaikos Aktor defeated Olympiacos, produced an incriminating official match report that leaves both the club and its leadership facing severe disciplinary action.
According to detailed logs, Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos caused a disruption with 33.4 seconds remaining in the second quarter when he left his courtside seat, stepped onto the court, and moved toward the officiating crew in a threatening manner.
As noted, he approached within two meters of the referees while making aggressive gestures and shouting explicit profanities, specifically targeting them for not assessing a technical foul against Olympiacos head coach Giorgos Bartzokas, telling them, “you don’t give Bartzokas a technical foul, you give them bl**jobs, f-ck off.”
This outburst forced a four-minute stoppage of play, during which the officiating crew alerted the match commissioner, ordered Giannakopoulos’s removal from the court, and issued a formal warning that any subsequent invasion by anyone would result in the suspension of Game 2 of the best-of-five championship series.
The match sheet also heavily penalizes the home club for widespread and highly coordinated vulgar chanting by supporters, highlighting that large sections of the crowd shouted explicit insults directed at Olympiacos during the Greek national anthem.
Furthermore, the referees documented multiple instances of prolonged, synchronized profanities throughout all four quarters aimed directly at Hellenic Basketball Federation president Vangelis Liolios, Olympiacos coach Bartzokas, Olympiacos general manager Nikos Lepeniotis, and various political figures.
Olympiacos officially protested the incident to the Greek League’s sports judge, asking for a two-year arena ban and a fine of 100,000 euros on Dimitris Giannakopoulos, also citing the aggravating circumstances provided for in the Disciplinary Code.
Olympiacos also requests the imposition of a fine of 100,000 euros on Panathinaikos for the same reason.
Meanwhile, Dimitris Giannakopoulos is asking via his social media for the punishment of coach Giorgos Bartzokas, while Panathinaikos published a video of coach Bartzokas cursing postgame Panathinaikos team manager Savvas Aronis, and also made an official protest asking for his ban from Game 3, and also the punishment of Olympiacos GM Nikos Lepeniotis.
