Thanks to an exceptionally strong second half and by firing at will from downtown (15/26 three-pointers) Olympiacos destroyed Rethymno 102 – 71 in the teams’ first quarterfinal match for the Greek Basket League playoffs.

The absences of Vassilis Spanoulis and Giorgos Printezis didn’t affect the Reds’ game which was quite impressive in the third and fourth period.

The two teams were close only for the first twenty minutes, since with a raging start in the third period, the hosts made the score 56 – 38. They never looked back afterwards and kept expanding the difference, since their opponents were simply unable to fight them back.

Kostas Papanikolaou and Matt Lojeski scored 21 points each for Olympiacos, while Tyler Stone was the best player of Rethymno with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
