Strelnieks leads Olympiacos to Greek League semifinals

Contrary to Game 1, Olympiacos was determined to put its quality on the floor on the road vs. Kymi.

Olympiacos barely survived Game 1 of the Greek League best-of-three quarterfinals against Kymi and put this lesson into action in the second match to prevail 88 – 66 and sweep the series.

Janis Strelnieks scored a game-high 16 points and dished out four assists for the Reds. Vangelis Mantzaris added 13 points plus six rebounds and Jamel McLean had 12 points.

Thaddeus McFadden dropped 15 points, Gary McGee 13 and nine rebounds and Lenzelle Smith 13 points plus seven boards for Kymi that was completely outplayed in the second half.

Following the break (37 – 40), Olympiacos dominated the third quarter 12 – 23 and proceeded to win the game with no problems.

Olympiacos will face Promitheas Patras who beat Lavrio 79-77 and also qualified in the semifinals with a 2-0 sweep.

The other semifinal couple is defending champs Panathinaikos versus PAOK.
