Ionikos Nikaias is very close to an agreement with Loukas Mavrokefalidis. The 34-year-old center is a free agent since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, but is now ready to sign with the Greek A2 (second division) club.

Mavrokefalidis last played for Rytas Vilnius. He was on the Lithuanian’s team roster during the 2017-18 season. He previously was an AEK, Panathinaikos, Spartak St. Petersburg, Barcelona, Olympiacos, Marousi, Valencia, Virtus Roma and PAOK player.

Take a look at his career’s full profile.

Roeland Schaftenaar is not expected to remain in the ambitious Greek club’s squad. The 30-year-old Dutch International has an injury, which will not allow him to continue at Ionikos.

Besides the player in and the one out the Greeks are also ready to finalize their deal with Nikos Vetoulas. The 44-year-old coach recently left Kolossos, a Greek top-tier team, but will take Ionikos head coach spot.

Ionikos started the 2018-19 season with five wins in its first six matches. The club seems ready to power up even more in order to achieve its goal, to play in next season’s Greek Basket League.
