In an interview with Sport24 Radio, Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos admitted his move to leave a red thong on Olympiacos’ bench (after the Reds’ decision to forfeit the second half of the Greek Cup semifinal against Panathinaikos in protest for the referees) was wrong and apologized to the “basketball world”, Panathinaikos’ players and fans.

“I think it’s not fair to pay so much attention to a wrong move”, said Giannakopoulos. “It was really blown out of proportion. I want to apologize to the basketball world, except for Olympiacos. It was a humorous move. If it was that bad, then I should face the repercussions. It’s a public apology to Panathinaikos’ players, as this move outshined the win on the court and the wonderful fans that attended the game”.
