Panathinaikos defeated Promitheas Patras 87 – 76 for Round 24 of the Greek League. It was the Greens’ last game before the launch of the EuroLeague playoff series against Real Madrid.

Nick Calathes posted 19 points and eight assists while Ioannis Papapetrou scored 16 in a win that improved Panathinaikos‘ Greek League record to 23 – 1. Panathinaikos had been down 14 – 21 in the first quarter and coach Rick Pitino wasn’t exactly happy with how his team played at the beginning of the game. “We’ll get swept if we play like this vs. Real,” the Hall Of Fame coach said.

For Promitheas, that is tied with PAOK Thessaloniki at the fifth spot with 15 – 9, Rayo Brown dropped 19 points and Octavius Ellis notched a double-double of 18 points plus 17 rebounds.

A heavily shorthanded Olympiacos Piraeus overcame its absences and routed PAOK at home. Following the game, David Blatt said that he expects the signing of a new player.
