Peristeri returns to Greek League semifinals after 16 years

Historical Greek club Peristeri (former team of Pete Mickeal, Marko Jaric, Audie Norris, and the late Alphonso Ford) is back in the league’s semifinals.

Peristeri defeated Ifaistos Limnos 74 – 64 in Game 3 of the Greek League quarterfinals to win the series 2-1 and advance in the semifinals for the first time since 2003.

Ben Bentil scored 16 points for Peristeri while 18-year-old Zois Karampelas added 11 points, six assists and four rebounds in 18:43. Jerry Smith had 23 points for Ifaistos.

Peristeri had returned to the Greek A1 League this season after spending the last five years in minor divisions. The team will face Panathinaikos Athens in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, in OAKA, AEK Athens beat Cholargos 88 – 75 behind 21 points by captain Dusan Sakota to punch a semifinals ticket after prevailing 2-1 in the series. The 2018 BCL champions are playing vs. Promitheas Patras for a spot in the title series.

From Cholargos, Jermaine Love finished with 20 points.
